Definition: A jade roller is a facial massaging tool that incorporates crystal therapy, as jade is believed to be a healing and protective stone. Roll the stone across your face in upwards and outwards motions to increase circulation, de-puff, sculpt, and allow your products to better penetrate your skin.

Jade Roller are said to do everything from sculpting, toning, and firming skin to boosting circulation, enhancing glow, reducing puffiness, minimizing fine lines, improving elasticity, detoxifying, and helping skincare products penetrate better.

Rolling may also decrease puffiness (like hard-to-handle under eye bags) by stimulating lymphatic drainage. Cools and soothes your skin. If you store your roller in the refrigerator or use a naturally cold stone like jade, it'll cool the skin on contact. This can quickly de-puff your skin and tighten pores.

It's quite like a facial massage, except this tube of jade does all the work for you. For starters, jade has a naturally cool temperature, which means it works wonders on puffy eyes. I keep mine bedside and gently roll those bags under my eyes until they're in better shape. Jade rollers increase blood circulation, assist lymphatic drainage and diminish the appearance of fine lines (our facial muscles store a lot of tension, which can cause wrinkles and fine lines, especially around the forehead and eyes).  The rolling motion eliminates toxins building up in the skin, which makes it pretty good at leaving skin brighter too.

What is a Jade Stone?

Jade is an ornamental mineral, mostly known for its green varieties, though it appears naturally in other colors as well, notably yellow and white. Jade can refer to either of two different silicate minerals: nephrite (a silicate of calcium and magnesium in the amphibole group of minerals), or jadeite (a silicate of sodium and aluminium in the pyroxene group of minerals).

Jade is found in East Asian, South Asian and Southeast Asian art, but also has an important place in Mexico and Guatemala. The use of jade in Mesoamerica for symbolic and ideological ritual was highly influenced by its rarity and value among pre-Columbian Mesoamerican cultures, such as the Olmec, the Maya, and the various groups in the Valley of Mexico. Although jade artifacts have been created and prized by many Mesoamerican peoples, the Motagua River valley in Guatemala was previously thought to be the sole source of jadeite in the region.

HOW TO USE IT DURING DERMAPLANING?

After Sheet or Jellie Mask application roll the Jade roller over the skin in an upward-outward movement.

The phrase to remember here is "lymphatic drainage," a form of massage that pushes fluids to your lymph nodes, which subsequently process and filter them out of your system. When you perform this technique consistently, it's supposed to deliver depuffing, glow-boosting benefits. Also, it just feels really nice.

HOW TO WASH THE ROLLER?

Wash roller in warm soapy water.  Leave to dry.  Clean with alcohol wipe before use.
